Tips to store Kothmir/Cilantro/Corriander Leaves for longer shelf life!

Cilantro or Kothmir is a very popular herb used in both Indian and Mexican cuisine. Freshly chopped cilantro/coriander leaves are often used as garnishes and as an ingredient to add fresh flavor to any recipe. The leaves are best used when they are fresh and crisp, not limp, dry or soggy. Hence it’s best to know tips to store cilantro for a longer shelf life.

 Interestingly there are a bunch of tips to store kothmir/ cilantro leaves for a longer shelf life.

  •    Keep the stems of the cilantro bunch dipped in shallow glass of water in the refrigerator. This keeps the herb fresh and alive for many days. You could also add a platic bag on top to cover the leaves from overexposure in the refrigerator.
  •    Open the cilantro bunch and lay out the stems on a paper towel or newspaper and roll this like a scroll and store in the refrigerator. This prevents the leaves from getting soggy.
  •   Pick the leaves off the stems and store this in an airtight container/Tupperware, for keeping it fresh for long.
