Simple Mutton Curry / Gosht ka Sherva
This is a simple yet delicious recipe for a basic Mutton Curry or Gosht ka Shorba. Sherva or Shorba is the soup or curry which is the base flavored by meat, bones and spices to form a lamb/goat curry.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb mutton- lamb/ goat
  • 2 onion (chopped)
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2 green chilies or jalepenos
  • 1⁄2 c cilantro chopped
  • 1 t salt (add to taste)
  • 1 1⁄2 t red pepper powder
  • 1⁄2 t turmeric
  • 1 t ginger paste
  • 1 t garlic paste
  • oil
Instructions
  1. In a pressure cooker or a large pot, pour the oil. When oil is warm, add ginger and garlic paste and stir. Add onion and sauté further till it starts to emanate an aroma.
  2. Next add the washed mutton to the cooker, either goat or lamb. The cut of meat could be either chops or meat with bones. Add the red pepper powder, turmeric, salt and sauté together.
  3. When the meat looks sauted add the chopped tomatoes, slit green peppers, and some water and pressure cook or cook with a lid on the pot. After the meat is cooked, simmer the flame of the stove and add cilantro and let cook till a curry consistency is formed.
  4. This can be eaten warm with naan, roti or pita bread or even French or Italian bread.
Notes
As a variation garam masala(powdered cinnamon + cardamom+ cloves) and dessicated coconut could be added. This gives a different taste to the curry.
