Ingredients
  • 2 lb all purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 lb all purpose flour (maida)
  • 1⁄2 lb clarified butter (ghee) or butter
  • 1⁄2 lb clarified butter (ghee) or butter
  • 1 pn baking powder
  • 1 pn baking powder
  • 1 1⁄2 lb sugar
  • 1 1⁄2 lb sugar
  • 1⁄2 c sliced almonds
Instructions
  1. Sieve the all purpose flour, sugar and baking powder together so they mix well with each other. Add the clarified butter or ghee and form dough. A little milk can be added to help form dough, but if you prefer an absolutely soft cookie, just use butter or ghee.
  2. Set aside this dough for 30 minutes to an hour and later knead it soft. This soft dough can be rolled out using a rolling pin to half inch thickness. Use cookie cutters and make beautiful star, crescent moon, circle or any shapes. You can garnish it further with sliced almonds but you may skip if it’s causing your cookie to break.
  3. Remember to place each cookie/ Khatai quite apart from each other on a greased cookie pan. Bake it in the oven at a temperature of 275 to 300 degrees.
Notes
Also check out the low fat version of Naan Khatai on the website later. The low fat version is of course not as soft and tasty, but a quick and easy less calorie substitute.
