Mango Lassi – Mango Buttermilk
Mango Lassi is a variation from the Sweet Lassi/Sweet Buttermilk which is a popular drink in Punjab, North India. This drink is very refreshing, and yogurt gives it the cooling effect. This drink is popular in summer since fresh mango, a tropical fruit, is in plenty during this season. This drink is often served with spicy food to accentuate the flavors of sweet and spicy!

Ingredients
  • 2 c mango pulp
  • 2 c plain yogurt
  • 1⁄2 c milk -add more for drinkable consistency
  • 1 vanilla ice cream - scoop or more
  • 1⁄2 c sugar
  • pinch cardamom powder
  • 10 ice cubes
  • whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
  1. If you are using fresh mangos, peel the skin and cut the fruit in cubes and set aside the center seed/stone. The fresh mango cubes need to be first blended to pulp.
  2. If using canned mango pulp, add directly to the blender with the yogurt. According to the size of the juicer or blender, you can add the ingredients in two portions.
  3. Let the mango and yogurt blend well till the yogurt starts getting buttery. Add sugar, cardamom powder, ice cubes and milk to make it a good drinkable consistency.
  4. Lastly add the vanilla ice cream and give it one more last spin. Serve in tall glasses cold and top with whip cream if desired.
