Chanch - Salted Lassi – Buttermilk
Chanch or salted Lassi or buttermilk is a perfect coolant for summer afternoon. It also is healthy, digestive, and a carminative drink!

Ingredients
  • 2 c yogurt or curds
  • 4 c water
  • 2 t salt -add to taste
  • 3 sli ginger
  • 2 pn cumin, roasted and powdered
  • 1⁄2 T curry leaves chopped
  • 1 T cilantro chopped
  • 1 T mint chopped
  • 1 pn black pepper
Instructions
  1. In a blender, add 2 cups of yogurt or curds, and equal or twice the amount of water depending upon the consistency of the yogurt. If using homemade yogurt use equal amount of water but for thick store bought yogurt, you can use twice amount of water. Whip it together in a blender till it gets frothy.
  2. Pour the whipped buttermilk or chanch in a pitcher, add freshly crushed ginger, chopped curry leaves, chopped cilantro, and chopped mint leaves. Sprinkle roasted and powdered cumin and little black pepper.
  3. Serve cold with or with out ice.
Notes
Quick buttermilk tip: Get lowfat store bought buttermilk, dilute it with water and add the other ingredients skipping the yogurt, to get a similar experience in fewer minutes!
