Trailer Food Diaries Cookbook: Austin Edition, Vol. 3 (American Palate)
I love books and food, hence love to write about food too! Yesterday I met a charming and pretty Tiffany Harelik , Author of Trailer food diaries at Book People , one of my favorite Austin book stores.
Tiffany was here, releasing her new book of her series of Trailer Food Diaries. She has been writing about the food trucks and their stories with recipes since a few years introducing the now famous Austin food trailers to everyone wanting to know more.
She started self publishing with Kickstarter for her first book, but now her third volume is published by History Press. She travels around different cities and tells the stories of the many food truck entrepreneurs of Austin and other cities with their favorite recipes.
Austin has been declared a foodie town with its expanding line of food trailers and award winning chefs in Austin’s popular restaurants and the food loving people who enjoy the unique culture of Austin with its music, arts, technology, active lifestyle, green living, farm to table concept, food and weird quirks!
Tiffany started blogging about the food trucks then started to chronicle the many food truck stories in her books to introduce them to Austinites. She has couple of other books of food trailer stories of other cities too. Yesterday along with Tiffany at Book People were the food truck entreprueners/ chefs talking about their stories of ‘living their American dream’ and their recipes while sharing their sweet and savory treats. Tony from Food Trailers Austin also talked about trailer events like food truck throwdowns etc . This organization helps as a coordinating alliance for the food trailers around Austin.
I look forward to hopping on and checking out the food trailers of The Flying Carpet, The Peached Tortilla, Mister Fruitcup, and Hey! You Gonna Eat or What? Who I met at this event. The Flying Carpet couple, Abder Rahim and Maria talked very passionately about their Morrocon and Mexican stories and recipes and having tasted their mint ginger cookie, I would like to taste more. Peached Tortilla had delicious taster spoons and Hey You Gonna Eat or what has small sandwich bites to savor.
With SXSW coming in town in spring break, it’s going to be great business for the food trucks and trailers. Happy Eating.
